Volunteering

Friends of the Library

The Friends of the Library is an organization dedicated to promoting and providing services and equipment for the BWG Public Library. Fundraising activities include the semi-annual book sale. The funds raised by the Friends are used to provide author visits, concerts and movies, and to support programming for kids and teens.

Reading Buddies

The Reading Buddies program  pairs children with trained teens and adult volunteers. It focuses on the enjoyment of reading and works to improve literacy for reluctant or struggling readers. For more information click here.

Teen Volunteers

The new Teen librarian will be coming in Autumn 2017.  We have many opportunities available for teens (14 years of age and older) who are willing to donate their time to the library.

Adult Volunteers

Library programs and services are enhanced through the dedication and assistance of volunteers. We regret that we have a limited number of volunteer opportunities for adults. When a volunteer opportunity arises, the library will advertise the position and accept applications. The library does not keep applications on file.

Volunteer Screening

All volunteer applicants are screened to ensure an appropriate match is made between the volunteer and the position. The screening process includes completion of a volunteer application form, a formal interview, orientation and training. Police Records Checks may also be required depending on the volunteer placement.
