This is a family history on the Banting family and begins with John
Banting (b. 1742) and Elizabeth Hall (b. 1739) both in England.
The researcher has been so kind as to provide an index of the last
names that are linked within the Banting family. Some of the spouses
last names are not listed in the index, so if you think you may
be related to some of these last names, browse the index and see
if the spouse’s last name is listed.

These books may be helpful to anyone researching those who settled
in the Scotch Settlement – ie Bannerman, Sutherland, McKay,
Sinclair. These books detail the trip that these settlers took from
Scotland to Canada, but do not mention many by name. The exception
is the last book, Women of Red River, which does make specific reference
to some of the above-mentioned settlers. It does provide some background
as to the conditions when the settlers arrived in Canada.

This is more of a story about the development of the Collier family
than a family tree. Much of the information is from a family that
is still in England.
