We are pleased to announce that the eLibrary® Canada database is now available to patrons from anywhere! eLibrary® Canada is an easy-to-use online general reference database particularly aimed at Canadian school students. The service combines premium full text and multimedia content, and user-friendly search options to give users a wide range of results from magazines, newspapers, books, maps, images, television and radio transcripts, audio and video and web links.
Designed for both novice and advanced researchers, eLibrary Canada features nearly 3,000 sources. Titles cover a wide range of subjects including business, education, general reference, health, language arts, sciences, social sciences, and many other. Every magazine, journal, newspaper, book, and transcript is provided in full text format.
Use of eLibrary® Canada simply requires your library barcode. Access the database from our Teens & Homework online resources page. If you have any questions or require any assistance using the database, please drop by the 1st Floor Information Desk and one of our librarians will be happy to provide you with assistance.
For patrons who borrow ebooks from us through Simcoe County’s PULSE system, either using Adobe Digital Editions or the Overdrive Media Console app, please be advised that Adobe Systems Inc. has suffered a security breach which may affect the Adobe account you created and used to authorize your tablet, phone or ereader device. According to Adobe:
Our investigation currently indicates that the attackers accessed Adobe customer IDs and encrypted passwords on our systems. We also believe the attackers removed from our systems certain information relating to 2.9 million Adobe customers, including customer names, encrypted credit or debit card numbers, expiration dates, and other information relating to customer orders. At this time, we do not believe the attackers removed decrypted credit or debit card numbers from our systems. We deeply regret that this incident occurred.
Reactivation of previously authorized eBook software and apps using Adobe DRM (Adobe Digital Editions and OverDrive Media Console) is NOT required in order to maintain access to Adobe eBooks or to download new ones, even if users have since changed the password on their Adobe ID.
As a precaution, Adobe is resetting relevant customer passwords to help prevent unauthorized access to Adobe ID accounts. If your user ID and password were involved, you will receive an email notification from Adobe with information on how to change your password.
For complete information, please read the Important Security Announcement on Adobe’s blog.
