Class Descriptions
Blossom Collage: April 30 & May 1
Children will bloom with creativity while creating a spring masterpiece.
Stepping Stone: May 7,& 8
Add a little sparkle and flare to your garden with your own stepping stone.
Buggy Mobile: May 14 & 15
This cheerful mobile with its colourful insects will look great hanging in a window.
Spring Growth Chart: May 22 & May 28*
Create a majestic tree, then design a chart to measure how tall you grow from year to year.
*No Class May 21st - Victoria Day

Class Size: 8 min & 15 max - we reserve the right to cancel one week prior to classes if numbers are low. Money will be refunded in full.

Drop-in Chess Club
Drop in and meet with other young chess players.
Challenge your friends and learn some new moves.
Chess sets will be provided (or you can bring your own) and volunteers will be available to help beginners.

Art With Purpose

Wednesdays, 5:30 to 8 p.m.

Art with Purpose is designed as a fun, innovative experience that will develop creative abilities
and personal growth in young artists. Focusing on experimentation with traditional, not-so-traditional
and recycled art materials, students will learn how to test their own boundaries of creativity.
We offer environmentally-aware programming and introduce children to the work of contemporary
Canadian and internationally-renowned artists working today as well as important artists from the past.
Speak out about relevant, social and environmental issues while being inspired by myth, fantasy and all things fairytale!
Types of art to be explored:
Projection and Photography - combining a camera and a projector in creative ways, Painting - acrylic and watercolour paint combined with other mediums, Sculpture - clay, found objects, paper sculpture, Printmaking - monotype, silk-screening, linocut, Drawing using a variety of drawing materials and tools.

Storytime
Story programs are approximately 30 minutes in length and include
books, stories, songs, fingerplays, etc. Each story session lasts
6 weeks. Class size is limited.
How To Register:
On the Registration dates children may be registered by telephone
or in person from 9:30 am. Priority is given to BWG residents. Late
registrations will be accepted if space permits.

Who:
Avid readers 9 - 12 year olds
When: The third Monday of the
month.
Time: 7:00 - 8:15 p.m.

a head on your shoulders that’s filled with an open mind
- and don’t forget to bring along some of your favourite
reads to share.

Reading Buddies is a literacy based program where children in
grades 2 – 7
who are having trouble with reading will meet once a week
(excluding school holidays) for one hour sessions with a volunteer
tutor.
Buddies will concentrate on reading for pleasure together and
enjoy activities
that promote reading and writing.
Tutors for this program will be secondary school students and
adults with strong literacy skills who will be trained and matched
up with a child. All tutoring will be done in the library at a
time mutually agreed upon by the tutor and child.
The library staff will monitor the program.
Registering:
To register your child for the program, complete and return a Reading Buddies
Application Form, available at Borrower Services.
The start date for your child will depend on the availability
of trained volunteers.
Volunteering:
Interested secondary students with strong literacy skills who
wish to tutor
should obtain a high
school volunteer application form at Borrower Services
or from the library website.
Interested adults with strong literacy skills who wish to tutor

(They will also need to provide proof of a Police check to the library.)

Kids Groove with Nikki Forrester
Nikki Forrester, an ECE with over 20 years of experience presents an active 5 week program that combines singing with visual stimulation, ribbon movement, puppets, instrumental experimentation and the spoken word.
5 week Monday session runs from May 28 to June 25th, 2012
Ages 0-2 9:45 - 10:15 am
Ages 3-6 10:30 - 11:00 am
Event will be taking place in the green programming room
Cost $38 per child. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Maximum 2 children per adult.

Saturday Family Music
Nikki Forrester, an ECE with over 20 years experience, presents an active class for the whole family. Each class combines
singing, movement, instruments, puppets and bubbles!

Ages: 6 months to 5 years
Cost: $8.00 per child per class
Children must be accompanied by an adult. Maximum 2 children per adult.
