Interlibrary Loan

Bradford West Gwillimbury Public Library belongs to a resource sharing network that allows for the exchange of items. If our library does not own the item you need, we may borrow it from another library or institution located outside Bradford West Gwillimbury. Both the Ontario Archives and the National Archives of Canada participate in the interlibrary loan service.

Interlibrary loan request terms and conditions:

  • This service is free to all Bradford West Gwillimbury Public Library users with a valid library card.
  • Patrons must register for this service by coming to the Library and receiving a unique password for Interlibrary loan before using the service.
  • Patrons must check our library database to ensure that we do NOT own the requested title before making an interlibrary loan request.
  • Items that may not be borrowed include reference items, text books, or current bestsellers.  If the material was published in the last 6 months, it might not be available.
  • Many libraries do not loan videos, DVDs, CDs, or audio books.
  • Overdue charges for loans are 50cents a day per item, excluding Sundays and holidays.
  • One-week renewals should be requested 3 - 5 days before the due date.
  • Patrons will be notified of any interlibrary loan charges from the lending institution - patrons will then have the option to pay the fees or cancel the request.
  • Patrons will be informed by email or phone when their item(s) have arrived.
  • Interlibrary loan items can take a couple of weeks to a couple of months to arrive.
